These festive second grade sombreros were done as part of our celebration of Mexican art.  Students used bright tempera on colorful 18″ x 24″ paper.  Painted Paper Blog was the inspiration for this lesson.


Beach Towels

We’re ready for summer fun!  K/1 artists used thick tempera paint to design colorful beach towels.  They used a variety of lines to create these bright designer towels.  Of course, everyone needed a  sand pail, shovel and beach ball for our day at the shore.

Kindergarten Angels










Kindergarteners and tempera paint are a joyful combination!  Starting with a large roundish shape near the top of the page, students used big brushes to paint the head, gown, feet,  and wings.  When dry, they added hair, a halo, and golden details with a small brush.  Markers were used for the tiniest details on the face.
